Need Help

Anyone with a 108 had this done?

I have a 1969 280 SEL in which I have to replace my Heater Blower motor. I realize this job is very difficult and time consuming. I am going to have a repair shop do the labor for me, as I know it will be too difficult for me. The shop I talk to only have a labor book that go back to I believe to 1973, which did not list a 280 in the book. They are having a hard time to give me a price on labor hours for the job. The help I need is what will be a reasonable amount of hours and if anyone will have access to a labor book that goes back to 1969 that I could get a copy of this job.

Thanks

Hello Jerry,
This is a tedious and complex job. If your car has A/C it is even worse. I have done this many times and it is a task. I do have the Mercedes factory time guide for this project. To remove and replace the blower it is 7.0 hr. add 1.2 hr. for AC. This is the times allowed for trained Mercedes technicians back when these cars were common. If it is a first time experience you can expect to see much longer times. in addition, items on these old classics such as the heater controls, stuck water valves and air flaps may require additional labor. It may be cheaper to move to a warmer climate! Good luck!
