My '71 has some paint checking and minor rust under the left rocker trim and under the driver door side moulding.
My '80 is completely rust free but the paint is getting tired from nylon brushes in car wash.
Neither car is worth a complete bare metal strip and concours quality respray but both are too nice to scrap.

Any recommended body shops in Indiana, or surrounding states, for this type of 'driver' work?

(One restoration shop has quoted me $12,000 to strip and repaint the '71.)

Mark,

I can't help you by recommending body shops in your area, but I'd like to respond to your concern about the cost.

My experience is that the quality of the work is more important than the cost of the job because after a few years the cost is pretty much forgotten, while the results stay in one's face.

The key question is how well and for how long will the rust spots be eliminated from the car? If there is reasonable assurance that the repair will stick for years, then that's the job to be done.

The idea is for you to continue enjoying the cars you've grown accustomed to driving. I've done it wrong on one car and right on another. I feel the difference.

Do it right and enjoy the results. Or buy a new car.

Three words for those living in Southern Indiana (Jeffersonville): River City Imports. Honest work. Very knowledgeable. MB graveyard in the back for used parts. Highly recommended.
