Getting the DVD NAV to play DVD's

Does anyone know how ti get the DVD Command center to play DVD's when the car is in park? I have a 2005 S55 AMG. :confused:

If there are no directions in your owner's manual, you don't have that available.

Some aftermarket experts have installed Euro COMAND with features such as DVD play, and even T.V. reception on the COMAND head unit.

Steve Installed a Euro Nav into the wifes 2006 W211 and we watch TV and DVDs in Motion...Works Great!

I've read that people have done such conversions but it can't be simple or inexpensive, since the COMAND in-dash unit has no TV tuner or DVD circuitry built in. The separate DVD player that's used for programming the navigation function is in the trunk.

So wouldn't it be a lot easier and cheaper to just buy a portable DVD player to bring along when DVD playback is desired?

The Euro Comand Will Play DVDs ..since it uses a Nav drive in the trunk..one loads the DVD into the head unit...The TV Tuner is also located in the trunk...You can Use the NAV and listen to CDs/Ipod/...Or Just watch DVDs In Motion
This set up is NOT cheap ... But its all Factory parts..and NO Hacking up the car and or wiring to make a aftermarket system work...also One can add the I Pod kit
That will make the CD changer obsolete!

So, for a sizable investment one can have TV/Video function in the car without hacking up the car or wiring. That's fair.

Regarding your comment about iPod making the CD changer obsolete: It's not going to happen just yet, because there is an audible drop in sound quality from the CD to the iPod. The sound quality of iPod may improve in future. Or the CD will be replaced with a smaller non-moving storage device. But at present, if you want fine sound reproduction in the car you will just have to use CDs or DVDs.

The sound quality of an Ipod compared to a cd is like night and day.
