Gump is going to kill me. The other day the driver side mirror fell off. Just jumped off. Darn!

What is really going to kill me is the refusal the turn signals have to blink when I use the stalk. The hazard lights work just fine and I have the newer relay set up, not the red button. Tried to cycle the hazard about 25 times to get better contact. No reaction other than hazards still work.

Was hearing a buzz, rapid fire clicks at my left leg and figure that is the signal relay. I pulled that out and did a fast resolder on all connections. that worked for around 5 blinks. No more blinks.

Am I going to have to srping for a new relay or is there something I am missing? Pierre?

nice to know there's another "ghost" inhabiting these parts!

Oh, Great and Glorious Co-Moderator!.....

Guru of spare parts for w115 cars, holder of much great and wonderful knowledge...

Might I ask you to ship me the much needed relay for turn signal and that I may send you just compensation forthwith?

If this works for you, let me know where to send payment

I cleaned all contacts, and replaced all bulbs front and rear. All lights worked fine, but shortly there after the right rear turn signal quit blinking. Hazards work fine. I get a rapid indication on the dash indicator. Any ideas? Thanks! Stu

Have you tried taking the plug covers off, be carefull the older ones sometimes brake when trying to remove them, I have found bugs and bug nests inside of My rear light plugs when cleaning/recleaning the trunk compartment, also look for mold type of corrosion around and on the pins, something not uncommon in the Northwest/Puget Sound area.

I did take the covers off. I moved the pins around a bit. They look good, no corrosion. I had a friend watch the lights for me, instead of my wife. He tells me that I'm getting one normal right rear turn signal flash, but then it goes rapid. Same indication on the dash. But I am getting a light. I wonder if I have seperate flashers for L and R. Hazard flashers both work. All lights work actually except I don't think I have my backing lights. I don't know if this would be related, but the turn signal lever on the column does not catch (stay in position) when signalling for a L turn. That's another problem I'd like to fix. I think there's a thread on that somewhere.

Thanks for your reply: Stu

I get a rapid indication on the dash indicator.
That is an unmistakeable indication on a low load on the relay. European flasher relays work on the principle of load: When given the proper load, they flash at about 70 blinks per minute. Reduce that load - like a burned out lamp - and the flash rate increases significantly...to warn the driver a bulb's out.

Ohmmeter from front to bulb socket, find the bad wire/plug/socket/bulb/etc.

Takes time, but 100% successful.

Thanks Don: Found a bad gound in the L rear socket. I cleaned it and now all lights work normal. I'm not sure if I have backing lights. I need another person to help me with that one.

Unrelated: On my way into work this morning after driving about 100 miles on the highway I get off at my exit and go to down shift, and the clutch pedal went right to the floor with no resistence. It stayed there. I can pull it back up. Everything has been working fine. No shift problems at all. Fluid level is normal, and I didn't see any leaks. I'm thinking and hoping that it's a linkage problem at the pedal and master. Fortunatly this happened only a mile or so from work, but I'm 100 miles from home!!! Stu

same problem as Clay had in 2006. my hazards work, but the turn signal does not. there is no clicking though, which is where he got the idea for the relay problem. it just stopped when i was driving to town. where is a good place to start?

also, i had a little issue with the emblem on the hood, as it was torn off. is there a place i can go to buy one that is not 50 dollars ... where i found one on mercedesshop.com.

i'm a student and a little fixed for cash, but i love the car so want to keep it nice.

thanks,

To check rear lights, park with your car's rear end facing a store that has a lot of glass on the front wall. Look in the rear view mirror to see a reflection of your car. Activate all the lights and watch for their reflections. Do this a couple of times and it will become a habit to check the rear of your car whenever you're parked or driving slowly in a commercial parking lot.
