Does anyone have any recommendations for the Greenwich/Stamford/Norwalk area of Connecticut? Looking for care, value and pride of work for a loved '85 380SL!

New Owner of '94 SL320 in great shape with low miles. However, due to age, seals leaking, etc. Big Bucks at the local MB dealership. Got any suggestions for repairs in Fairfield, CT area?
Thanks!

I'm in Ridgefield and I'm looking too. Someone I met in a parking lot suggested Rennsport in Bedford Hills. I haven't used them yet. I hear that they are a little cheaper than the dealer but that they treat you like a customer. If you find anything please post it here so I can check it out. THX

Ken Marino at Marino Sales and Service is a old time Mercedes dealer, of the vintage before fancy showrooms. He used to have a lot ful of 108's. I'd trust him to work on older cars. He may be one of the few people around who knows how to tune a mechanical fuel injected or carborated car. He is located in Durham (203) 349-1035.

I've had great experiences with the North Haven Mercedes dealer servicing my 97 E320. Always exceeded my expectations.

I recently had Carriage House of New London, CT work on my '85 300TDT.

What a great experience!

They picked up and returned the car to my home, free of charge.

Steve Aylward is the service manager and heads up a "classic center" team of 3 techs with a combination of 75 year experience.

They diagnosed and corrected some transmission shifting issues that two independents and two dealership service depts couldn't/wouldn't address. The last dealership service rep essentially told me not to bring the car back to her!!!

The car drives better than it has in years.

I feel like I've finally found a service department that knows what they are doing, are eager to do a great job, are not outrageously expensive and, most importantly, know how to provide a client with excellent service.

I can recommed this shop to anyone with an older (especially diesel) MB. I feel you will be taken good care of.

They did send someone with a loaner from New London to Kent to pick up the car and then returned it.

That's service!!

I should add Ken Marino Sales and Service in Durham, Connecticut as a DEFINITE shop and dealership for Mercedes owners - particularly the older ones, before they started to look like (IMHO) Euroboxes... I have purchased THREE cars through him (yes, I still own ALL of them although fleet downsizing is now a priority) and I have had his shop service ALL of our Mercedes. He's HONEST, FAIR and his shop provides GREAT SERVICE.
Let's face it, Mercedes Benz automobiles are not for everyone as they are expensive to purchase and to maintain properly. Many will purchase a Mercedes and then, by omission of proper servicing, allow it to begin the long slide down until the hapless (read: ignorant and/or cheap) owner sells it far before it's time... As many MBCA members will testify to, Mercedes Benz automobiles are RUGGED and, when cared for, will last for decades by virtue of superb Teutonic engineering, good, solid materials and typical German overbuilding.
Particularly when compared to automobiles produced by (sniff) *other* nations, including our own. Pity, though, that Chrysler has bought a controlling ownership in Daimler Benz - on the one hand, it allows Mercedes to continue but, at what cost? Hopefully not to see these fine automobiles looking like every other European vehicle and reliability headed towards that of the Yugo...

If I may stick my 2 cents in here, I would recommend 'North Haven Foreign Car Repair' 475 Washington Ave, No. Haven (203) 239-3247. One man shop, owner Dieter Kuhn. Born in Germany, learned there and has been working on MB's and VW's here since 1954. I have known him since 1965 and would not uses anyone else until he retires. Prices are much lower than dealer with great individual service.
