Just to mention that I burned one and a half quart of oil with my '05 SLK 350 between 2200 miles an 3840 mi., and about the same qty before, but near nothing after that. This confirms to me that the synthetic oil takes more miles to set the rings to the sleeves.
I am now fully happy with my car.

Hi Andre,

How does the 190SL and SLK350 compare? There is a lot of history between the two. :)

I drive my 190sl in Canada during summer months. The SLK 350 is my Florida car during winter. This is not the same kind of driving. Maximum speed with the 190sl for me is 85 m/hr but it surprises a lot of drivers on highway seing an old car going at this speed. The SLK is a beast, and at 60 years old, I still like a lot to push her to the max. RPM, and attack curves at high centrifuge forces. In both cases they attract a lot of attention from other drivers.
The oil consumption was high on the SLK for the first 4000 miles, but now everything is OK.
The love I have for both cars is like the one for my mother ( 190sl ) and the love I had for my wife ( SLK 350 ) during our wedding trip.

The next one will be a ML 320 CDI when available. She will be probably a mistress' love affair.
