Hi guys,how're you all?Hope all of you are doing fine! :)
Well,you see,my W114,but now with a 200 petrol M115 engine,Stromberg 175 carb,sometimes jerks.
It happens like this:say you going in 4th gear,when you approach a bend,you slow down and shift down to 3rd,then you depress the gas again;it is at this very moment that the car jerks once or twice before pulling away smoothly.The jerk is rather strong,but it only happens SOMETIMES,not always.
The car has (Note:these repairs are done about half a year back and has since clocked approx. 1200 miles to date) :
1)New nozzle and needle,diaphragm and repair kit for the Stromberg carb.Dashpot damper has 15W-40 oil(which seems to lessen after every few weeks,is this OK?).Exhaust note is smooth,no hunting at idle/higher rpm.Starts immediately in the morning and when hot after driving.
2)New contact breaker point set,capacitor(condenser),rotor arm,spark plug caps and W8DC Bosch spark plugs.Distributor cap is clean,no cracks/tracking.Vacuum advance mechanism is working:no leaking or seizing.The centrifugal advance is OK,I guess,since the distributor shaft can be turned by hand and it springs back.Cam lobes seem fine and not worn,and the shaft has no noticeable sideways free-play.Point gap is at 0.020"/0.50mm,never checked the dwell angle,tho'.
Ignition timing is a very steady +15 dg at idling.
