I noticed that the grill on my W114 has two screwholes and have seen several of these cars with badges there. What kind of badge goes there?

If you're talking about the radiator grille, then you are looking at the small (about the size of a half-dollar) flat MB badge like the one on the last SLK, but different.

Might be the remains of a euro delivery grill badge. I have one and it sort of rings a bell. Could also be the backing to any number of grill badges.

Hi guys! Just a question regarding our W114/115 radiator grille mesh: from what I've seen and known,our cars have those plastic mesh,right? But I also heard about alloy mesh for our models,yes,not the W108/109 ones,but haven't actually seen one.

So,are there really alloy radiator grille mesh for our models? Is it because of a difference in production period: older and later models? Will they fit the same? I'm thinking of getting an alloy one(if indeed there's one!) for my Merc;it'll look very cool :cool: ,much better than my old,plastic one,which is brittle and broken in several places.

The early grilles (1968-1973) I believe have the metal mesh grille. My 1971 has a metal grille.

Gump came with a plastic mesh, and I heard about the metal one from folks with an earlier model. I had to have one, so found one on eBay after much searching. I really like the look of the metal, much better than the plastic, which was looking old and nasty. There are different clips to hold the grill in, so I would suggest getting the complete grill with surround.

Thanks guys,for your replies! Hopefully I could find a nice metal one(a complete grille) for my W114.It just adds on the class on our Mercs,doesn't it? Metal grille,steel rims with the Merc hubcabs,the earlier,smooth-type tailights;ah,these are a few items that made our W114/115s more classical looking,and I just like them! :D
