THREAD STANDARDS:

Please read and try to comply with these pre-post instructions.

Here I would like to have a thread of W113 owner photos and histories to be shared with all MBCA forum users for their enjoyment.

We should try to keep this thread very neat and tidy, so please, regard these standards when posting a reply. This is just a thread, and to keep it neat, navigable, accurate and pure, please share your car's photo and stories in the following way:

Please post only 1 reply PER CAR. That way the number of replies in the forum stats reflects EXACTLY the number of "exhibits" featured under this thread.
Please do not include TWO cars in one reply. Each car deserves it's own post.

PLEASE show reverence and do not chat in this thread.
PLEASE post only ONE reply for EACH car featured, if you want to add or change info please edit your original post, and do not start a new one.

If too much time passes, you may no longer be able to edit your post. If you would like to start over, message me for deletion of your post and you can start fresh.

You can post repeats from other forums, if it is a W113-

You can post as many exhibits as you have cars for- ONE FEATURED EACH

Please supply at least one photo, you don't have to be in it, and please keep all relevant info confined to the ONE post, you can always re-submit a fresh one. There is not set standard formula of info, you can state as little or as much about your car as you want, but please say SOMETHING!

How to attach pictures: (FAQ)

First you will need your photo smaller than 100kb on your computer or inserted disk or memory or somewhere your computer can get to it. You'll need to know what directory it's in.
Hit "reply" as normal and tell us all you want. BEFORE submitting, scroll down to "Manage Attachments" Click on "Browse" and find your file, then when it's in the window click "upload", and you should see it listed. THEN hit submit. You can always change it around again through the same process under "edit"
REMEMBER: More than one photo is not necessarily discouraged but be advised your photo will not auto-prompt for signed in users.

May I point out if you only post 1 premium photo, vs 2 or more, it will automatically show up in the post for signed-in users, which makes for nice quick browsing. Thanks again, we look forward to your pictures and histories!

Hard to believe no one has posted a nice picture of his 113. So, here's mine.

Bought the car in San Antonio, TX about 3 years ago, and drove it back to Fort Worth. My wife found it while browsing the net after I told her I would not mind owning a nice 113 if there was one available nearby. The car originally came from California.

It is essentially unchanged except I had the multiple door dings fixed, an obvious trunk lid depression fixed, replaced the clock, got the old FrigiKing going again, got the dash and glovebox map lights working again, added the chrome exhaust tips, replaced the multifunction wiper, washer and turn signal stalk (I forget what this is called), painted the hitherto unpainted hubcaps body color, replaced the Nardi steering wheel with a standard black one taken from a dead w109, and replaced the windshield wiper assemblies.

The car was, and remains, mechanically sound. I decided to buy it after a test drive made me conclude that it felt, drove, sounded and smelled like a good 113 and that I could get it presentable with relatively little incremental time and money. It was pretty complete, kept quite authentic and unmolested, and sound of body and soul.

Not perfect by any means, it still causes quite a stir when parked by our favorite restaurant.

I have a 1970 280 SL, and would be interested in doing something similar to what you've done. Clock is running slow. Radio doesn't work. Rubber around windows and doors needs to be replaced. What do you recommend?

Ebay is the first place to start for a period clock and/or radio- I was able to buy a period Becker Europa for my Dad there in wonderful condition. Believe it or not, a Mercedes-Benz dealer can still order a quartz clock for you, and prices are only a few bucks more than Miller's or Bud's Benz, at least when I bought it. I recall you can buy weatherstrip sets at Bud's Benz or Miller's. Or, you can have your existing slow-running electric clock repaired.

If you join MBCA, you can find a myriad of suppliers and contacts for these parts and even for clock repair via the Star classifieds - the magazine is included in the membership fee.

Thank you.

I just joined, so I've not received the magazine yet.

I'll check out Ebay.

This car always gets attention. People wave, smile, give thumbs up and high-5 signs, whistles or they stop and stare. I have received many offers to purchase. One fellow wanted to buy it as a lottery prize. NOT FOR SALE!

I just bought a 1966 230SL with 56,298 original miles as stated on the title. There are a few oil change and service stickers in the door jam that help verify the mileage. The car is white with 115 trim code navy blue interior MBtext seats. It came from California and is rust free with what appears to be one repaint. The paint is show condition right down to the notch near the head light chrome. I am sure I will have questions as I get to know my car better. I also have a 61 220 Sb (since 1987)and a 73 280 SE4.5 (since 1997)
