Bernhard; sophie looks super to me. Keep her even if she is smaller than a wagon. :) you could probably never find another one like her. I looked for a great low mileage 300CD in NE for a year or so & never found one. I finally went to a 560SL to keep my 240D company

Hi All; Keep those good looking 123 diesels, you can't hardly find one anymore especially the coupes & wagons. :)

SA-10,
She definately looks like a euro model, the heater controls you have were not a US option on 300D and in my opinion are better that the set up of a US 79. Also, the metric speedometer is very rare. It seems it wasn't "federalized" or may have been switched back. The bumpers are Euro, it's curious that it doesn't euro lens headlamps, a 300D should have gotten them, even that year. Even my 200D had that option. Bit of a mystery. I don't see a lamp adjuster switch either. She may hold an unusual life story. What have you heard about it?

I have to agree.
Color is the one thing we can't be picky about when we are in the used car market. The ivory is beautiful.

bwalke: I always liked the dark blue color for the wagons (and owned one once, but that's too long a story for now). The first silver wagon I saw was Grey Ghost and I must admit that I'm partial to the lighter colors now.
It's a handsome car no matter what color, however. I just love to see the well-kept examples humming around town or on the highway (and I always get the 'thumbs-up' sign from the bedraggled examples who see how nicely I've kept the Ghost)

Bill,
I had no idea you had such young and cherry rides! Very nice.
Fall tour? What about the spring rally in two weeks from today? If you sent your application in, it did not make it. Look forward to your memebrship.
Cheers!

Highway Star; your 123 looks pretty good to me. :) You need to name him/her & let us know what it is. Also join the MBCA it's a bargain for all the data you will get ;)
Let us know when you got the car , mileage etc.

hi vince; i dont have a real good picture of him by himself but will take one in a few days when it stops raining & get it to you. He is going in to have the rear window re sealed next Mon as it leaked into the trunk. I didn't find the leak till I had to have the left rear fendrer redone at the bottom as the water didn't drain out properly under the vinal fender liner. I got a super redo of the fender so the window seal is next so I should have him back next week :)

HowardT, that is one HANDSOME car
LOVE those painted wheels
I could drive a non-turbo diesel 90% of the time, but the 10% of the time I need to get-up-and-go, I do like that turbo boost!

Two days now, in my possession. Not real exciting, but it's all mine.
Congrats, you deserve to be proud. :)
However, I'm confused about the bumpers and caps.
US bumpers, on a euro? But a US 1983 300D wouldn't have come with hubcaps...
Is it turbo?

Skip; like I said about 10 posts ago I ain't no PC geek, no PC geek, No PC geek, so I casually pushed a button last night & lo & behold my email showed up 2 times. We are all lucky I only pushed it once not 10 times. :o Vince has the pictures to go with the post as they were too big to get directly into the forum. He allowed as how he would get them attached to my post, post, post oops
Somehow he will do this thru a procedure I can't fathom now now will I ever figure it out at my age
Al in Red Sox Nation(in mourning for this year) w/Manfried the silvr bulit 240D in cool slo moshun & Marlene the white flash 560SL ready to go again.
PS; I noticed the the 107 forum has a picture area also so when I get a decent picture of Marlene I'll try to get it in there w/o an echo, an echo, an echo :p

Vince; I see you got him up on the screen. He looks as good in the picture as he does outside in the driveway. Thanks for your efforts, these PC's are about 2-3 generations after me. I worked with the IBM cards in 56-58 & haven't progressed a whole of a lot since then other than to read email. Thanks for all your efforts & work :D
Al in a really dispirited Red Sox Nation (they never learn rule 1 "good pitching beats good hitting most every time") :(
But Manfried & Marlene are happy & Marlene goes to the Minuteman Section concours tomarrow at the Larz Anderson in Brookline, MA :)

Sorry, it's you!
There is a "Photo Gallery" Sticky in this forum, it's always in the top three.
It's set up to be one post per picture/car featured. But since folks like to chat about them in reply, this thread is provided as a "lounge" to the gallery.
Too see the pictures, click here:

You should debate whether or not the veg oil is good for the car.... :(
http://mbca.cartama.net/showpost.php?p=90212&postcount=45
That's a lot of work planned for a car you will likely damage with improper fuel. (veg oil)
"Conversions" are simply unecessary to run these cars on even the unsuitible petroleum fuel substitutes, don't believe the hype.

Hi guys, On post 34 and 35 the 123 from France has Amber Euro fog lights. It looks like the reflector is amber. I have Bosch euros on my 85' 300D (converted) and I love the performance and the look, but I miss the amber fog lights it used to have. I could just buy amber H3 bulbs but I like the look of the French fog lights. Does anyone know how to get such lights or just the reflectors if that's what they are?
Thanks,
Dave

I'd like to know the same thing. I have an 85 300TDT with Bosch euros i purchased way back. I always liked the look of the amber fog lights on the us version but much prefer the performance of the Bosch's. I agree with the previous poster that the French version looks great and would love to know how to achieve this look. We never have fog where I live anyway (Denver). Thanks !
