Hi, I'm contemplating buying a 1987 300TD from a used car lot in Vancouver. I'd like to get an experienced mechanic to inspect it. Any suggestions as to suitable shops in greater Vancouver?
Thanks in advance

I'm looking for a good indy. I'm interested in checking out www.AceGermanUsedParts.com which is a dismantler in Burnaby too. I have a W124 1989 300E that needs attention that I'm working on as time allows. Thanks for any help you can provide.

FYI, I called around the Vancouver area for a simple battery the other day. I got several different part numbers from different parts departments.
The following lower mainland BC MB dealers offer a 10% discount: West Broadway in Vancouver, Richmond & Victoria.
These said they might but I would need to speak to the manager: North Vancouver & Nanaimo.
These said definately not: Boundary Road in Vancouver & Surrey.
Interestingly, I was told that the four dealers in the Vancouver area (Broadway, Boundary, North Vancouver and Richmond) are actually owned by Mercedes-Benz Canada. Not all of them have the same MBCA discount policies. The dealer in Surrey is an independent.
I was a bit surprised to hear that only Canadian MB still under warranty are entitled to free Roadside assistance, unlike in the US. I was told that even a new US car would need to pay for a roadside incident in Canada. I wonder how a Canadian car in the states would fare...
