I'm looking for an OE Mercedes Benz trailer hitch, preferably with detachable ball. Used is preferred, but new would be great.

MB does not recommend a hitch on this model. The gas model is okay. I take it this is a 300TD? Not certain why. Maybe the turbo is not calibrated for the extra pulling. I had a 87' Diesel 124 body wagon 300TD, the previous owner had a hitch. Didn't think anything of it. I never used it, and took it off, however the motor did have problems, wrarped head. I corrected by getting a new head and top end rebuild. This was at 150K miles, not certain if any relation to towing with a hitch.

Dan,
MBUSA does not recommend hitches for ANY car now, only the ML series. I'm surprised that they told you that the gas cars could have it but not the diesel - doesn't make any sense to me.
George,
Yes, I'm still looking, I've sent you an email. Please tell me more about your hitch. Is it really an OE hitch?

While on vacation in Italy, bought one from a hitch installation specialist for Euro 380.00, brought it back on the plane. U.S. Customs agent was curious and quite amused that I would lug a trailer hitch from Italy to U.S. I just smiled.
Price was a little high, but build quality is excellent. I'll start a new thread elswhere (maybe the 124 forum) for the installation.
