The radio volume in my '02 ML320 fluctuates up and down . I assume the COMAND radio compensates for speed and/or cabin noise level, but this happens too often. Anybody else have this problem?

There is a microphone in the dome light (or is it on the dash? I forget) that listens for cabin noise and compensates the audio volume. The system can be disabled (at least by disconnecting the mic) which will address it. If the mic is seeing a lot of cabin noise that varies a lot - unusual amounts of air blowing across itl for example - the system will act wierd.

Find the mic and put a piece of masking tape over it, see if that helps. If so, work from there.
