Hi Everyone!

Just joined and thought I'd share my beauty with you. Its a 1968 230, originally owned by Pop Artist Mel Ramos from Oakland, CA. I aquired it many years ago and did a partial restoration. I now live in Switzerland and the car (much to my constant dismay) is in storage in Ohio. I'd really like to A). Find a reputable MBZ mechanic in Ohio or nearby to do the remaining resto work or B). Find a shipping company to get me reunited with my baby!! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. If niether A nor B works soon...I'll have to sell it as I do not want it to deterioate in storage - this baby needs to be on the road again!

What a beautiful vehicle! I know that the Swiss really treasure Finbacks. If you have to part with it you might get more for it in the Alps! However, I hope that you are able to locate a suitable restorer and keep it.

Keep the revs up,

John K.B.

What a pleasure it is to look at pictures of an old M-B that's in such fine shape.

To find a good restorer in Ohio, contact Stoddard Porshe in Willoughby, Ohio. The're a superb car dealer of long standing. Charles Stoddard will definitely know of a suitable M-B restorer for your car.

This is a great looking car whose true worth is now coming into its own. I only wish it was located in southwest Oklahoma so I could take it to my shop and finish it. I just finished a 1968 200 finback. They are a pleasure to drive> Good luck on your pursuit. Charles Boyd

David,

First, congrats on a lovely car and second - of course you dont want to sell it!!

I lived in Lausanne for 5 years and imported a 1979 Honda CBX 1,000cc motorcycle which was 25 years old at the time without any problem once I had ascertained from the local vehcile registration office (La Blecherette, Lausanne) whether it would be allowed in or not - dont ship it over if they wont let it in!! The bike was in great condition and the mechanical inspector spent 20 minutes crooning over it before exclaiming 'magnifique!' and issuing its roadworthy certificate and therefore access to local registration. Should be exactly the same for your Merc, especially considering it is already in fine condition.

I have a 1964 220Sb which I will be bringing back to europe at some stage from Brazil. Furthermore, if you sell in the US, you'll get half the replacement price in Switzerland!

Last point - do you know of a vintage MB club in CH with web address? I'd be interested to see what is available myself.

Cheers
Richard

I am also in the Kent Ohio area and have a finback in the family. I can put you in touch with a great mechanic for the car if you want to keep it and get it on the road

David -
I am interested in your Fintail.
I have, of course, many questions.

It's probably easier to email me at home:

barry@barrypower.us

Thanks!
