Hi,

2 weeks ago my 1995 C220 Coolant Indiactor came ON, I check the plastic coolant tank (the level) is low. I waited for the engine to cool after a few hrs, then I top up with water. 4 days ago, the indicator cam ON again. I decided to check the base of the engine, where there is the plastic base, I notice slight liquid with green colour coolant. I think this confirms a small leak somewhere.

I notice the leak may not be from the radiator but below the engine. You notice on the photo I have remove the fan blade to get a better view of where the leak is. It look like from the hose connected below the engine. Can any one pls help me to diagnose.

Hi,

The mechanic have now replaced the Water Pump & new Radiator. Question is theRadiator look new from inside the engine bay but externally, where the 2 fans connected is still same. Is that the Air Conditioner/Heater Radiator?

Also mechanic spotted that the engine mount is broken. I know one mount already replace last Aug, coz when car put on reverse it vibrate tremondously, so only 1 mount replace is that the left or right mount. Now this mechanic say "Engine mounts broken". Is it that he observed one broken mount & concluded/assumed the "plural". Whats will occur if that one mount is not replaced?

Kind Regards

1. Yes, exactly: in front of the radiator is the Air Conditioner condensor.
2. The motor mounts hold the engine down and in the correct place. If the motor moves, bad things can happen: damaged exhaust, intake, radiator, and other parts.

In my 1969 Plymouth, I had broken motor mounts. If I used full throttle, the engine torque would cause the motor to tip up on one side, pulling the throttle cable tight, and the engine would remain at full throttle. To stop the car, you had to shut off the ignition. Now, this probably won't happen to your car, but it's just an example of the bad things caused by broken motor mounts.

Have them both replaced, and consider having the one by the transmission replaced, too, just as insurance. It's probably broken, or nearly so.
