I'm hoping someone can assist. I have a 65 220Seb in need of a new brake booster. Someone suggested I pull the current one out and send it to a company called Pointhouse. Their web site suggests that they can rebuild vacuum boosters and master cylinders. Is this the best approach? Does anyone know where I might find a new one instead of rebuilding. MB Canada has informed that a new one from Germany is $2,000 Canadian. 1,800 US (yes our dollar is still lower than the Greenback). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have been trying to determine the carpet specs for this vehicle and have yet to find a conclusive answer. Some say it was German Velour others indicate the the original material was Double Loop.
Other items I'm seeking are:
1. A trunk mat, is it the same material found in the interior of the car?
2. A small round threaded chrome piece that screws onto the top of the rear bumper thing-a-ma-jig (they may be called bumperettes) and covers the license plate bulb.
3. New rubber inserts for the front bumpers (again they may be called bumperettes)
I've been looking for a good discussion group and I'm thrilled to see the activity and expertise being shared on in this forum.
Thanks in advance and I apologize if these things have already been covered previously. I'm new to this forum.

I recently had a booster for a 190SL rebuilt at White Post Restorations for $470.00Their number is 540-837-1140. They are located at WhitePost Virginia 22663. They do excellent work.
GAHH in North Holloywood California can give you specs on carpet. The W111 Coupes and convertible had Wilton Wool. There is a synthetic that looks just like Wilton wool but does not have the moth problem you get with wool. GAHH number is 818-767-6242.
A rubber trunk mat (part number 108-684-01-05 I think?)
You are looking for the license plate light chrome bezel. They are available but I do not have the part number at hand.
Glad you have signed in on the website . Charles Boyd

Charlie,
Thanks for the information, I'll call White Post Restorations tomorrow.
I've compared a sample of the synthetic wilton wool, to existing carpet that I thought was original. Someone had replaced the driver and passenger side carpet with a wilton wool type product, but it looks very different from the carpet covering the transmission tunnel, I thought the tunnel carpet was original. So after speaking with someone locally I went and had a look at a different type of wilton wool and again it looked very different and this is when I became confused, called MB Classic USA and they could not help clarify. Is it possible there were different types of carpet offered?
I realized after sending my post that the license plate lights are in fact not mounted to the bumper, but the body, sorry for the error and thanks for providing me with the correct name for the bulb covers. Any idea where I could find these?
Thanks again for the reply.

I don't know if the lens for the license lights are available seperately. Contact me at charliel@texhoma.net. I might have an answer for you. Charles

I just replace a booster in my 250Se coupe. I acquired a brand new Ate (original equipmnt) replacement for $315US. That was a wholesale price, but you may want to try BuyMBParts to see if they can get you one. Forget about the dealers, they are theives on these old parts. Get the replacement part # from the classic center, and then go on a hunt. It took me about 2-3 weeks to locate the one I got.

Charles - can you clear up the Wilton wool carpet issue? I was told by a German carpet/upholstery shop that no Mercedes ever had Wilton wool as original carpeting. Wilton wool was strictly a British product and Mercedes would never stoop to using it in their cars. :) They said that the wool carpet that Mercedes used was a German produced product that was very similar to Wilton wool.

Len: My cabriolet will have a synthetic carpet that has the look of Wilton wool. The Germans did use a material that had the appearance of Wilton wool. The beauty of the synthetic is that you don't have the wool/moth problem. In my part of the country, the moths will destroy the wool unless you keep it moth proofed in which case your car smells like moth balls. GAHH in North Hollywood can help with this problem. Charles
