How much is too much?

I just turned 70K miles on my 1999 SL 500 I customarily drive the car on the weekends (only) however, I think this is a bit crazy. That said, how many miles do "we" think these SL's are good for? I change the oil every 3000K with synthetic and don't drive like Joey Chitwood.

If you maintain it by the book, and repair what isn't working with good parts, and ensure the rust is held at bay, it should last literally for the rest of your life, and then some.

The limiting fcator is always cost. At some point, a specific repair is more costly than the vehicle is worth to the owner.

On the other hand, if you don't maintain it at all - not even oil - it'll last maybe 15k more.

Please note that there is a steady demand to MB for their 250,000 km grille badges. There's a reason for that...
