I am looking for a used Zenith Stromberg Carburator that I can use to extract a choke housing and enrichment valve from.

My mechanic who is great and loves the old cars is trying to help me (with little or no $$$$) bring this little car back to peak condition. It is already wonderful but my enrichment valve disintegrated when he tried to adjust it and now we need a new one to replace it. If I can buy (somewhere) a used carburator and then use the parts when my carburator little-by-little needs parts it will help a great deal.

A new one from Germany costs $300 but that is my entire budget for this project so I am hoping to buy a used one and use the parts. My e-mail address is PCoates1@Hotmail.com. So, let me know. Thank to all out there and all the ships at sea...

Portland,
I will make you an offer. If you can wait a week I will go to my local German dealer and price it here in Kaiserslautern. It is hit and miss with the prices(some real cheap/some not), but I am usually pleasantly surprised.

I will check back on this post after 8 Dec.

P.S. Get a good part # if you dicide to use this option.

Nov. 28. Angelo: I am so impressed with your message. I am certainly going to keep your name and address. I got lucky and my mechanic and I found an entire Zenith Stromberg Carburator 175 CD (circa 1971) in a car in a barn near Akron, Ohio. The farmer sold it to us for practically nothing and threw in an entire muffler assembly as well. We were thrilled. So, instead of replacing just the enrighment valve, Gerald was able to replace the entire carburator!!! What excitement. The car runs like a cat, real smooth. However, I am so delighted to receive your message and appreciate so very much your efforts on my behalf. I was phoning all over and e-mailing all over to find this part. It was not easy. So, your e-mail was lovely. I did actually find the part and have installed it, but there will be other times so I will keep all the information from you for another time. With this old car, other times will come, you know that. Best wishes Portland

Portland,
That is great news. Glad to hear that it is running well again. I just got my old Benz running well again also. See "Damp Distributer" post in Tech Post. If you get the parts book from the classic center in the U.S. it will help immensly. They don't have very many parts, but the German Center in Stutgart actually restores the cars on site (many parts available).

Good luck with yours and enjoy driving it.

Hello Portland H. Coa
May I have the contact information for this farmer near Akron, Ohio?
I presume he has an MB in the barn; I may be interested in buying it.
A 175 CD (circa 1971) would be a nice daily driver.
