The rear wheel on my 1983 300d is at an angle can someone tell me what is wrong

You are going to have to put it on a lift and inspect the rear suspension. It could be anything from rubber bushing(s) that need replacing to broken suspension parts. This is serious and should be looked at ASAP.

I'm not sure we have enough information to make an intelligent assessment. Did this just happen? Did you hit something? Is it only one wheel? Which way is it angled? The wheel(s) will have a pretty severe looking camber when it just comes down off of a lift/jack. It will look like this \ /

Robby is right though. It ought to be looked at.

And I should add that it is normal for the rear camber to look moderately like this / \ when the trunk/back seat is loaded.

Very dangerous - do not drive the car until you know the cause and then only drive it as far as needed to get it fixed. Consider having it towed - your insurance co. may be glad to pay for the tow rather than you driving and risking a serious accident (USAA did that for me when I was not comfortable driving a car).
