I have a 99 C230 and I need to replace a rear axle bearing by the brake assembly. I can remove the rotor; how do you remove the hub assembly, the part where the wheel bolts on. The bearing is behind it. I tried using a 3-fingered gear puller, but the part seems very tight.

I have the Haynes manual, when I have time this weekend I'll type out the instructions.
Will that be cool? But in the meantime these are the first two steps. Also check out www.mercedesshop.com
It does say: 1) remove the wheel trim or hub cap, then using a hammer and pointed-nose chisel carefully relieve the driveshaft retaining nut staking (where applicable)
2) Slacken the driveshaft retaining nut with the car resting on its wheels. Note this nut is extremely tight - ensure that the tools used to loosen it are if very good quality and a good fit. Do not remove the nut at this stage.
