Okay, so we're new at owning a m.b. Have always had hondas or toyotas. So, where are the dang spark plugs...under the central cover on top of the engine? Can't see them on the sides. Tom

yes, you will need to remove the center cover on the engine to acess them

What year is your car? Is it a 104 I6 or a 112 V6?

It's a 1997 c280, 2.8L L6 FI, I6 I believe. Why, does it make a difference when changing spark plugs? Tom

he mentioned the central cover, so likely he has a 104 6cyl engine

Makes a big difference in where the spark plugs are. 1997 was the last year of the I6. It may look like a hassle but it's actually a walk in the park compared to the V6 which has two plugs per cylinder some of which are quite difficult to get at.
