Went to look at the 1966 finback, haven't driven it yet. Very rough cosmetically, tho rust appears to be confined to the bottoms of the doors and the bottom of the fender behind the front wheels. Very straight body otherwise, no dents or old bondo popping off, old repaint in original dark blue, decent chrome, original radio, original underdash A/C, all trim and lenses present and usable, even very old M-B coco mats!! the title says 1966, the trunk says "190 Automatic". Is it maybe a 1965 if it's a 190??

It may have been titled a 66 and built in 65. My 73 280SE4.5 was built in 11/72.

If there is rust in the doors, it is probably hidden in other ares as well. Floors, trunk floor, inner frame rails, etc. It might have been registered as a '66 by some error. Not so uncommon back then. You can spend more on rust repair than on a mechanical refurbishing. I wouldn't put too much into it. If you're going to invest in a finback, pick one with an injected 6-cylinder engine. Better cruiser, etc.
