Hi. I am thinking of lowering my 74 450SL. Has any one done this? What springs did you use? thanks Joel

You'll be sorry. Impossible to keep aligned, premature tire wear, no ride quality, and bent fenders. I sell so many sets of stock springs to people who have lowered their cars or bought one already done.

Hi tom,

Thanks for the input. How about the rubber that can be installed to ower the car without changing the springs. I think it goes from dot 1 to dot 3. I dont remember what its called. Would that work?

See which spring pads you have in it now. The dots are visible, and are on the bottom lip of each pad. Lowered SLs are very rough to ride in. Handling may not improve much either. You'll also take a severe risk of wiping out an expensive oil pan.
