I have found a beautiful '66 230S I wish to purchase. The owner says it suffers low compression. Is this a major problem to fix or can a DIY be done? Any ideas on the costs?

Pretty major. If you got a couple grand to spend on the motor...

First, you will need to do a compression check. Removing the head is actually quite easy, if you can do the work yourself.

If the car is a rust bucket, forget it.
