Hello. My name is Rodd Masteller and I live in Powell, Ohio, which is just northwest of Columbus. I am a member of the MBCA Central Ohio Section.
Here are a couple photos of my 1966 230SL that I bought in August, 2000. It was originally delivered in October, 1966 to Carlo Riva by the NAVA dealership in Bergamo, Italy, which is still in business. (See web sites listed below.) It is still a very original vehicle. The data card has serial numbers for the engine, automatic transmission, front & rear axles, and steering assembly. These components are all still factory original. The data card also confirms that the matching body numbers on the hood, soft top cover, and hard top are correct. The paint has been resprayed, but the original is under the respray (not a restoration). The odometer now reads about 67,000 km, but it probably has 367,000 km on it (229,000 miles). I say this because when the timing chain was changed this summer the one removed was not the original endless chain. As timing chains last about 100,000 miles on these cars, it should have traveled at least 200,000 miles on the first two timing chains. The turn signals (not just reflectors) on the front fenders are correct as they were specified for all Italian delivery vehicles. Euro "touches" include the lack of bumper guards on the chrome bumpers, metric instruments, one-piece headlight lenses with multiple bulbs & reflectors inside, Italian turn signals on the fender, an "automatic" trunk emblem under the 230SL emblem, and a complete lack of seat belts (optional in Europe at the time).

Oh, the dog is my White West Highland Terrior named Mackenzie. We also have a male named Dougan. Great dogs!
