What do you Heckflosse experts think of if?

I have a 1961 220Sb. You should consider it. There are alot of things needed to make it perfect but I still like it. Just look at it well and ask alot of questions. Rust is your biggest concern. Get close up pictures of the floor and rocker panels. Those areas will structurally kill these cars.

It's definitely a first version, i.e. pre 1963. I've seen some Fintails on E-bay that are 1st versions and the owners are trying to pass them off as 1963 or later.

The way you can tell is in the engine compartment. They have single circuit brakes and drums in the front. There is also an openable flap on the firewall above the valve cover. On the 1st version 220SE's, the intake runners are straight and the plenum is really close to the sheetmetal, later versions are like the Sl's, the front and rear pairs are curved and the whole assembly is flatter and shorter. Just some more MB trivia.
