Originial Battery

The 190sl group is investigating the remanufacture of a "tar top" (actually plastic now) battery. There are several sources overseas, but since freight will be an issue, we are looking primarily at US manufacturers.

The DIN55611 battery was used in many Mercedes models during the 50's and early 60's. A larger order would, of course, have a more reasonable the price. I don't have a complete model list yet, but wanted to throw the subject out to see if there is any interest from the pontoon owners.

You might want to start by contacting Interstate, since they make the batteries for MBUSA anyway. Good product too.

I'll post it to the Ponton Group and see if anyone is interested. My guess would be no, but we'll see. What is the reason you guys want to do this? Have you seen the product made by tartopbatteries.com or some similar name to that? They make a plastic case that fits over a regular battery making it look like a tartop. It's not original of course but looks pretty good.
