I have a 1984 300d turbo and I have some drainage problems. I was just cleaning my windshield today and I found that water appears to come in the left side of it, maybe a seal under the trim or something?

Also, the car "pees" on my left foot when I turn when it's wet. I don't know where this is coming from, but I am not very familiar with this car.

Also, what could cause water to pool in the middle of the carpet in the passenger side?

does the car have a sunroof? it could be leaking in from there to pool on the passenger side. other than that, are there rust holes anywhere? If you really want to find some leaks in window/door seals, take the car through a touchless car wash; its fun to sit there nervously waiting for that high pressure spray coming down the car thinking "I hope that this driver side window seal is good"

Yes there is a sunroof, but I think the drain is clear and I know the seals are good. I'll probably clear it anyway and hope though.

As for the driver side dripping on my left foot, the water is somehow getting on the parking brake pedal and going down from there. There is a suspicious curve in the sunroof seal at the top right corner that it looks like water could get in, and I think this is causing water to get on the front left ceiling beam or whatever you want to call it and the drip on my foot... I'll tape a piece of garbage bag or something over it and see if it solves the problem. (that won't be the permanent solution though :) )

Interesting, the water is running down inside the roof, the A pillar, then on your foot? are there stains in the ceiling that would give you an indication? Garbage bag will probably work like a charm

I had a similar problem where the water would pool inside the sunroof somewhere, stay for hours or days sometimes, and pour out on the passenger when you braked facing downhill. This did not make me very popular. The best times were when it was a hot day and the water got pretty toasty before emerging from its hiding place.

The sunroof is a possible culprit. Check on other threads on how to safely clean and inspect the area. Read about it first before probing because I don't want you to break something more on the car.

Check the battery area. The tray might be very corroded and that leaves a site where water gets in from the firewall to the front passenger. Who knows, the water may also travel to the driver under the dash board. Just check it and see what is going on there since its a common site for leaks.

Windshield seal is not uncommon for leaks. Since I live in CA and my cars are garaged year round when not driving, I have no idea if everything is water tight on my cars, but it makes small difference since we don't have the problems that other states do.

Water being trapped in sunroof and then traveling elsewhere is highly probable.

You remind me that I should check my sunroof too just as preventive maintenance.

Thank you. I am familiar with the procedure for removing the sunroof, although the location and cleaning methods for the drains were new to me.

As for the battery, well, I had no idea water commonly came in there. I'll be sure to check it.

I'm on the Texas gulf coast, so heavy rain does occur and I need to be ready for it :)

I'm not as lucky in that way.
