Howdy gurus
I drive a 1984 300D Turbodiesel, roughly 240,000 miles. Bought it a little over a year ago, been slowly but surely fixing/replacing everything I feel competent to tackle. To that end, I recently replaced the rear shocks, flex discs, tranny mount and engine shocks. When I replaced the flex discs I didn't drop the driveshaft. Anyway, since replacing the flex discs I've found that the car tends to exhibit a certain squeak/chirp sound that speeds up and slows down with the speed of the car. I talked to a local mechanic and he said that because I changed out the transmission mount there's a good chance I changed the angle of the driveshaft and consequently the center bearing is rubbing in a different spot. Does that sound correct? If so, is it problematic? Is there some way to rid my lovely old benz of the birds living under the body? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This site is more than helpful - it's an inspiration. Thanks in advance.
