Power Mirror Question

My right-side power mirror on my 1987 420SEL doesn't move vertically anymore, although horizontal motion is OK. Maybe it's electrical, but mechanical seems more likely. How do I get into the mirror housing to check the motors and actuators? What do you pry / pop or take off first to get in without breaking something?

try this, from the inside there is a black plastic triagle on the front lower portion of the windoou start disassembling, pry open carefully then unscrew the 3 philips screws, disconnect the electrical line, then your side mirrors are out , be careful to have some one catch the mirror before you unscrew the last screw. the motor is located on the inside of your side view mirror assembly, sorry before you start taking the mirror apart, please check the switch and make sure they are working properly, sometimes itmay just be a dirty contact on the inside of the switch. good luck.
