The fuel line that runs from the bottom of the fuel filter to the pump - (about 6 1/2 - 7 inches) on my `61 190Db is close to kaput. I wondered if anyone has figured out a way to refurbish these old lines. Perhaps using new line and the old fittings and figuring out a way to crimp;) a new line to the old fittings. Miller's East can get the replacement line, but I'm always interested DIY solutions when possible/practical.

Joe,
Without the proper crimping tool it would be difficult if not impossible to get a factory look, but then hose clamps over the old fitting would be fuctional. Aftermarket lines run less than $15 and you may even find something at Pep Boys. If you have a replacement fuel pump with the slip on fitting, then homemade would not be a detraction since you have one clamp anyway.

Hello Walt,
For a quick inexpensive non-original fix; Remove the fuel line, put it in a vice and make an angular cut through the crimped collar with a hack saw or die grinder with cut-off wheel, being careful not to cut into the metal fitting beneath. Peel the crimp collar off the line and remove the old rubber hose. A nice fitting is beneath with a nippled end. Now you simply buy some standard fuel hose from you local parts store and hose clamp it in place. ........Easy and cheap fix, lasts as long as original but looks a little tacky!
