All,
I have been considering whether to buy reman injectors or new injector nozzles for my 83' 300D with the 617.952 engine. The car has more than 200K, and I 'm thinking that the injector nozzles, and maybe the injectors, are a bit tired. Do the injectors actually wear, or only the nozzle portion? Any insights will be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you pull them and test? Then you know if you need any correction, and you could then have those calibrated. The result could be better if they are tuned as a set versus new or reman that could be inconsistant.

You are saying that I should have them "pop" tested? Is this something that most mechanics have the equipment to do?

Essentially. Find a Bosch diesel injection speacialist. Even then I hear the work can be iffy. I think I was quoted $45 each for test and calibration by mine. (Haven't done it yet) May be a send it out type of deal for you....
For better info, I'm moving this thread to diesel dicussions where Marshall Booth will surely see it.

I bought 5 tested remans from http://www.srdiesel.com/ over the phone for $350.
I felt it was worth it, having just gone through about 8 remans from online stores, trying to find a set that didn't leak. Also, the engine really appreciated the consistent pressures (and I assume it also appreciated the correct spray patterns).
