Yesterday Iwent to the junkyard for some parts for my Crown Vic, didn't get any, all the CVs were removed while they reorganized the whole 'yard:mad: , did find nice new '85 Riviera parts car, though:D .

Getting back in the 300D, I closed the door and it sounded like something metal dropped inside the door. The door still opens and closes, the windows go up and down like normal, and the vacuum locks still work. The only problem is the annoying rattle when I drive over a semi-rough road, (if you've ever been to Madison, that means it's rattling 90% of the time). I'll post when I find out what it is later today.

In my 83 300TDt the control rod that goes from the door latch to the inside door handle is in a plastic clip holder, with a dab grease. The grease was completely worn off and the rod was rattling in the clip. Adding new grease at that point solved the rattle for me.

Hey, that was original equipment - made the car worth more than you thought!!

It was taped to the inside of the door trim panel, along with a note in German, so I had to ask a language instructor to translate. It said "Good luck in America". :) It was deliberately placed there as a blessing from a worker, so it wasn't something the quality control inspectors missed.
