hey there once again! i have 2 quick things, #1: it seems that recently when i start my 61 220 Sb, since it has a hydrak, i lightyl move the shifter, and when i can hear the clutch kick in, the engine jsut dies, and it seems odd to me. could it be from a drained battery? i prob should just get a new battery, or what is the cause of it?

and #2: if someone could please post adiagram with all the parts that are on the shift column (im mostly interested in the plastic parts that are on the shifter and such in the steering column) i would like to know the names of each plastic part, because this way i can order them, and hopefully get my car to go inreverse again! :D

thanks guys! take care!

Do you have a parts book with your other books for this car? A weak battery should not cause your engine to quit under load. How is your fuel pump? If you still have the original, the diaphragm may be shot. If the car has sat up for a long period of time, rust particles can block your fuel tank strainer causing the fuel to only allow you to start it and keep it running. Most of the parts for your shift linkage are available new from the dealer and not terribly expensive. We owned a 1962 220 Sb, a 1964 220 SEB COUPE and went through many years with only minor problems;)

the fuel pump should be relatively new, because the fuel like and the fuel filter seem to be new as well, the owner before my had it changed (the mechanic tricked him, he also told the old guy that put in a brand new engine, when the car clearly has the original engine in it). ill keep calling and looking for the diagram, but the loss under load still saddens me :-(. we havnt had any major problems with it at all
