I purchased a 1982 Euro 300D 4-speed from the original owner, a Mercedes employee when the car was new. The owner bought the car in Germany and installed an aftermarket a/c made by Diavia, and I am now attempting to rebuild the system.

I've been able to locate new components for everything except the hoses. I went back to a stock receiver/dryer and a stock hose between the dryer and the condenser. Hopefully I will be able to figure out how the stock pressure and temperature switches should be connected.

Has anyone here ever worked with a Diavia installation or know how to buy parts for it? I understand they are not uncommon in Europe.

Thanks.

New name to me, the few euros I've sen with AC usually have what I think is a Nippon compressor.

The hoses may require taking their fittings and having them re-made by a shop for that.

Hi Guy,

One of my 300td's is a Euro model (privately imported and modified/certified for the U.S. market, upon entry into the U.S.) and I will look-to-see what sort of a set-up it has.

But, while we're on the topic of building a/c systems, this may be the perfect time to install something that is much more up-to-date, much more efficient and something that utilizes new type freon (as opposed to the old/type freon, which is hard to come by, now days...)

Unfortunately, yours truly is utilizing old type freon in his ageing fleet of geriatric Merc's... Luckily, I have a friend in the a/c, heating business and I should be getting two of my cars "charged-up" in exchange for some "computer" work (which typically involves performing what the Catholic Church would officially call "miracles...") fairly soon. But, one of these days... My luck will run out and I'll be left a/c-less... (Or I'll have to convert my existing systems...)
