I have a 1965 190d that's in need of some serious love. He has some rust spots and needs new paint.
Does anyone have anyone they could recommend that's both good and not an arm and a leg?
TIA!

I know of a guy in Ranson, West Virginia who is a good body and paint man and is relatively cheap. He quoted under $700 for rust repair and repaint of the bad spots on my '81 300SD Something the boys in NY would not touch for under $2000!

Give him a call... it will be worth the trip.

South of D.C. off of I-95 Exit 110 on U.S. 1 in Ladysmith. A ramshackle looking shop called Ladysmith Automotive. He has repaired and painted two old Benzs, a BMW motorcycle and painted a beautiful flame job on my Jeep for me.
Roger Mickens is the proprieter. Don't let the appearance of the shop put you off. The dude is an artist.

Please follow the sticky protocol (http://mbca.cartama.net/showthread.php?t=17313) for this shop forum so it doesn't get out of hand with extra threads.

If anyone has a rec that's within 15 miles or so from Washington, D.C. I'd be really grateful. Thanks so much.

I just found a place that I will mostly likely have my work done at on my 115 restoration. They seem to do quality work and were actually working on another 115 when I stopped by. They're actually a parts/service place that specializes in older british cars like MGs, Jags, Triumph, Rolls Royce. In fact, they had a Rolls on the lift while I was there. The important part is that they know how to work with the old, heavy body panels and have their own sources for replacement panels, etc. They also do paint.
They're called Mountjoy's Autoshop located in Hyattsville. Their number is 301.699.1099, or check out mountjoysauto.com. When you call, ask for Judy.

i actually ended up doing it myself. i'm still in the process. but i'm going to see about having them cut and replace a little quarter panel rust. if i do, i'll let you know how it turns out. i have a feeling they do a good job there. the place is always full of cool old cars, mainly british.
