Okay, had an accident this weekend with a folding table and the roof rack on my wagon... let's just say I need to replace the rails. There is a TD in a local junkyard, from which i hope to pluck all of the roof rack parts, but my question is, before I get there, does anyone have any specifics for how these are attached?

Have to go under the headliner, and they are fastened from beneath the roof, but what kind of bolts? Knowing M-B, probably one of those 12-point star bolts that are so easy to remove---

Any advice appreciated! The donor junk car will also serve as the headliner removal guinea pig...

Thanks,

JAS

Looking at the part number they're just ordinary hex bolts.

Thanks Tom-

I need to get out to the junkyard before they crush the one 123 wagon they have there- my busted roof rack looks really bad...

From what I read in the service manuals, to get to the bolts the headliner has to come down.

I think you're right, as there is no other way to get at the base of the racks- the junkyard car will be my experiment for how to best get the headliner off without destroying or otherwise marring it- better to try it out on a worthless car than screw up mine-
