 I have an 87 300E. The "light bulb out" warning light comes on as soon as I press the brake pedal. I've checked all lights all the way around and everything looks good. Is there a sensor that is going out, or a possible wiring problem? Any ideas would help considerably.

Thanks.

OK John, how do you walk around the car and check the brake lights?

There is an external lamp sensor that illuminates the bulb on your instrument panel when a filament has burned out. Circuit symbol is N&. It is located in the rear of your fuse box in position K.

The sensors do occaisionally go bad, but it is most likely a light bulb.

LOL! It was a team effort to check the brake lights. I had my girlfriend step on the brakes as I checked the lights in the back. Any idea on the part number for the sensor? I haven't seen the sensor on any of the sites online, and haven't plopped down the $150 for the repair CDs yet.

Have you checked your third brake light in the rear window? My warning light was also on when I noticed this bulb was out.

Thanks, Erich. Bonehead rookie move on my part. Finally took a look at the third brake light. That was it.

Cheaper than a sensor...that's for sure!

Thanks for help, guys.
