Windshield scratches

Is there a practical DIY way to remove wiper marks and similar imperfections from windshields? I have some glass polish I got from Griot's. It removed water spots but not the wiper marks.

Hey Rob;
There is a kit consisting of the compound(a dry pumice type stuff, I would think it is aluminum oxide) a polishing wheel and instructions. You use your drill motor. I think the battery operated type is best for the suggested polishing speed is slow.
I did the glass on my 300e and was pleased with the results. It will not remove gravel pocks but what you want is what it is made for.
I ordered mine from all places, J.C. Whitney's in Chi Town.
