Hi - my local dealer wants 77 dollars for sunroof lube. My guess is that it is a large container, which I do not need. What do you folks use for this task? Thanks.

Tim,

I purchased a can of the lube from my dealer about 9-10 years ago and I have used it on a whole bunch of things beside the sunroof. I still have 1/2 can left. One of the best lubricant buys I ever made. The quality is outstanding. Expensive but I would do it again.

I paid about $12 for my can - and gave most of it away to mercedesshop members.

tim;
I guess I'm the odd one again.
For the life of my '85 W123133, I have used aerosol White Lithium grease to lube the cables and the same for the rubbing surfaces.
Wipe them clean after cycling the roof a number of times then it won't collect dirt.

Thanks for the input. I was just shocked by the price.

Don't waste money with the dealers.

Lithium Grease is my choice. Five times a year, when my car is waxed, I clean the tracks with WD-40 and then coat them with a thin layer of Lithium Grease.

It works perfectly!

I've found that the white lithium grease dries out and actually puts a drag on the moving parts over time. Removing and renewing frequently would help I'm sure, but the MB lube in the can has lasted for several years without becoming a drag on the mechanism.

A while back, BuyMBparts was selling one-ounce tins of Mercedes sunroof lube for $5.00. I believe they have an internet site, but I found it on ebay.
