I think I have a problem with the primary engine fan on my son's '93 300 TE 4 Matic. Am I correct in thinking that this fan is a viscous fan? The engine temperature will rise above 100 C and both electric fans will come on. I can stick a newspaper in the primary fan and easily stop it from turning. I expect at these temps it should be engaged. Is there anything but a fan clutch to replace?

Robbie,

Everything you ever wanted to know about the viscous fan is in the manual. Sections have been forwarded seperately since the BB does not allow the use of .pdf file extensions.
