Hey, guys. Just re-upped my MB subscription and saw your thread about boosting the turbo to 12 psi. Can this be done on a 1984 300td? What turbo was used that year? I also had a thread months ago about an oil leak at the rt. rear head area. It is not coming from the valve cover gasket- that is new and clean. The leak seems to originate from between the turbo oil tube where it turns the corner of the head, and the head gasket area. I leave a 4 inch puddle every night on the ground. My theory is either the tube has a hole in it (there is a strap soldered to the tube right there) or the head gasket. I cannot see well enough to figure it out. Any ideas?

Re the oil leak. Have you had the air filter off recently?

Robby- Yes the aircleaner has been off, to replace the battery. I got a better look at the area, but, alas, could not start the engine to start the leak. The battery had been dead for several days and I was in a hurry to replace it. It is a tough area- I have tried lights, mirrors, etc. It is funny that the oil consumption is very low, maybe 2500 mi. per quart. I would think that if it leaked a 4" puddle every night that it would leak noticeably while I was driving. There is definately oil residue under the car, but not bad oil usage. I am hesitant to tear everything apart not knowing what I am looking for. If it is the head gasket..... bummer.

whenever the previous owner of my car had this complaint, the dealer replaced the oil return seal & gasket or re-aligned the breather tube

Grey- Thanks. This leak is definately comming from that small, tight area between the 1/2" (12mm?) oil feed tube and the block. The oil puddles up on the bellhousing and then runs down the right side.
