had the shop attend to several items, including 5,000 mile lubrication service, valve adjustment, measure timing chain, rotate & balance tires (thanx, Spiderman Skip#1), adjust & lube sunroof, replace all glow plugs (3 out of 5 of them had gone bad)
she's running like a champ...can't wait to check her mpg
the shop told me they had NEVER seen a MB diesel turbocharger go bad, and they service cars that have seen 400,000+ miles!
DOn, what "tricks" do you use to keep your blower running smoothly? it's lubricated by engine oil, no?
p.s. time to put in for the 250Km mileage badge!

Grey Goast, Skip #1;
Having had my working carrer with G.M. Detroit Diesel which also manufactured the Turbo Chargers for The Electromotive Div. Locomotive.
The most and easiest thing to do to prolong the life of your turbo chager is to allow it to cool before shutting down the engine.
Letting the engine idle for as little as two minutes before shutting down will reduce the coking of the lubricating oil in a hot blower.
The other thing I've done which will bring out varied opinions is the use of one quart of Shaler's Rislone will my 2500 mile oil changes.
Now listen to the comments on this.

Spiderman -- the manual recommends the same. Do you ever receive dirty looks from people who are critical of your idling diesel?

G.G. Skipper;
See all we have to do is follow as instructed.
Some years back J.C.Whitney sold a Turbo Post Oiler for the V.W. snd Chrysler diesels; but now longer.
As for getting scowes looks, I get more looks and inquirees as to Donka's Age and how many miles he has clocked?
Admiration with remarks like: "Oh you know how those diesel perform, etc.
