Will post this to the diesel area also!
I could not believe the end of the Torsion Bar just broke off on the right side and a modest turn on the bolt (after a long soak in Blaster) just broke off on the left side. This area has very little metal.
Anyway we wont get into merits of the engineering.
does an adapter exist to right this. Threaded welded etc.
I had always said they built the 108-109 bodied cars around the heater moter. (take the car apart to get to it.). This looks in the same ball park.
The manual explains removal an install of the Torsion bar as simple.
Does the thing snake around and come out?
Do you have to take the vacuum/master brake stuff off?
Are the turbo wagon and turbo sedans the same Bar.
Started out as a simple job for the weekend. Not so sure now.
Please advise if you have done this.
