500E/E500 Registry

Friends:

A good friend just bought a 1994 E500, and he asked me if a registry of the 500E and E500 (by chassis number) exists. Does anyone know of such a registry? Anyone want to start one?

Don't know of such a registry. If I wanted to steal a 500E/E500, I would use the registry as a shopping list. Just my opinion.

There is an online registry at www.500ecstasy.com

But you have to be a paying member of the site to access it.

I maintain a registry of 500E-E500 cars that includes, but is more comprehensive than the 500Ecstasy.com registry. It currently contains over 10% of the cars that were brought into the USA, and includes information on mileage, sales history (including prices at known points in time), colors, options, known modifications, and a subjective opinion of each car. Photos, if available (and they are for most of the cars in my database) are also part of this.

I am working with the sysop of 500Ecstasy to make this available to members of the site.

The registry has already provided valuable "background" information to several people looking at specific cars.

If anyone has a specific car in mind, and has a VIN, I would be happy to look it up in the information that I have, and provide any info and photos that I have on the car.

I have received production information from Mercedes-Benz in Germany for all 500Es and E500s (W124) produced, and am currently expanding and populating this database for all of these cars, including country imported to, all pertinent serial numbers and options installed at the factory.

It's quite a project as there are around 10,000 individual records to deal with, but the database is now approximately 20% complete (meaning that I have completed full entries for 2,000 cars with around 8,000 to go).

I have not made this information public at this time but will assist individual owners and oblige specific requests for information. No immediate plans to make the registry database public at this time.

does this mean you have production/build dates on the 500e models? I have always wondered when mine was built, aand where it was in the production run.

I can give you all the factory information that's available -- feel free to send me the VIN via email (gerryvz@comcast.net).

You can get the build month from the plaque on the driver's door pillar (just open the driver's door).
