Yesterday the 4-matic light came on and stayed on on my wife's 92-300e
Visions of Xmas funds being transfered
to my dealers hands danced in my head.
After a trip to the dealer where I found out
that it would be several weeks before they would even look at it. I had a flash
nothing was going clunk, no funny noises,
so it must be electrical. So I disconnect the battery and let it set for 20 min. I then reconnected and guess what. the 4-matic
worked again, the light was out .and all was well. Of course I had to reset the radio code but everything works.
Up here in the far north this car is great

Congratulations on learning how to reset the memory on your computer chips. Have a Merry Christmas.

It doesn't have to be expensive. My son pushed the button ('93 4-matic) that gives the error code flashes and the light blinked 5 times...a $16 brake light switch.

My light was on when I was taking my car in for an oil change the other day. Flashed a code 3-the hydraulic valve checked out so the brake switch was replaced. Car test drove fine, after that the light came back on. I needed the car for Christmas. After putting several hundred miles on it, it suddenly went out though the bulb is good, In test mode it comes on. i had tried the battery reset, also moving the switch a number of times back and forth from Test. This had noi effect, than it fixed itself, or so it seems. Any explanations aside from a divine miracle?

Dear Unregistered,

Since I haven't the time to wait for a devine miracle, can you provide a little more information about your car? What is it? 124? 210? Something else? Miles?

My son is driving a '93 300TE 4 Matic with about 160,000 miles on it and Continental tires. Earlier this week we had 10" - 12" of snow and we used his wagon to bring some of our nurses in to work.

We had a competition to see which car could make the best time around the block; his 4 Matic or my 2.3-16. When the 2.3-16 didn't reappear we sent the 4 Matic out to tow it in.

The 300 TE 4 Matic and team Red ready to go:
