Hi all - I'm new here and I hope the voice of experience can help prevent me from another mi$take...My noisy, rough running 84 300d just had a compression test - results were 312/320/322/310/323. The mechanic told me this was low and that I would have trouble starting this winter unless I had it plugged in, and that the low compression was also indicated because my car wont start without having the accelerator depressed.
This is an alleged "low-mileage" used engine (114k). OK - PT Barnum was right. I read somewhere that 300+ was considered "fit" - what do the experts feel is a good number for a 617.xx motor?
