Not to long ago, i had my 300E in for repairs to an oil leak, now it seems to have developed another leak. It looks like its coming from the left side of the car, near the front suspention. My theroy is that it is the steering shock, but i'm not sure. What parts are prone to leakage in that general area?

Jordan,
Can you give us a little more information? Is the oil forming a small spot on the floor? A puddle? What color is it? Red? Brown? Black? Is the steering damper wet with oil? If so, what color? If brown or black does the oil match the color and smell of oil on the dipstick? If red, same questions for transmission dipstck. Let us know.

The oil is brown, and perfectlly matches the oil on the engine dipstick. It formed a small puddle on the garage floor so it looks like a slow leak. When i checked the oil level, and found it half full, so i think that was probably a combination of leakage and burning (the car burns about a quart every 3,000 miles). I havn't gotten the chance to have a look at the steering damper, so i'll get back to you on that one.

If you use cheapo American oil filters, they'll dump their contents when you remove them. Some will take a while to reach the floor.
