Hi everyone,
I'm a new W108 owner in Finland. Car is absolutely beautiful, and I was really surprised how well it handles (I've had a couple of other cars from sixties).
However, I've immediately run into trouble with the engine. I knew it had a faulty camshaft when I bought it, but it seems that there are other problems (eg. engine practically stops after driving 80km/h for one hour, takes a LOT of oil etc.).
I could get it fixed (I don't have knowledge nor workshop to do it myself), get a 'new' engine that is similar as it has now, or get a replacement engine from some totally different model.
My question is, is that last option feasible? In general, is it a Good Thing (tm) to do? I'm sure it can be done, but what kind of issues I might face? Any recommendations on which engine model might be good for this car?
Any tips, experiences and recommendaions are very much welcome! Thanks!
BR,
Janne
