after all the discussing of snow tires in November, I decided to take Zak's advice and simply buy sandbags from the hardware store. Well, having driven on both days of the blizzard of '05, I'm happy to report that Zak's penny-wise advice worked like a charm! Saturday morn I bought four 70# bags of sand and placed them directly over the rear axle. For the rest of the weekend I drove cautiously and avoided coming to a full stop on inclines, and had no problems getting through multiple inches of the white stuff. Of course, there were very few cars on the road, so I did NOT have to come to any panic stops to avoid thoughtless morons.
